2017 Reunion Blessing of the Goldens

“Bless, O Lord, this creature, and fill our hearts with thanksgiving for its being.”

For most of us, the blessing came when our golden came into our lives. Confirmation of that blessing came Saturday, when Pastor Dave Nixon officiated at the Blessing of the Goldens, taking time with each participant and their dog to give an individual blessing and a medal remembrance. Pastor Nixon is no stranger to service. After twelve years as a full-time pastor, he now serves part-time as Chaplin at Orlando Lutheran Towers and supervises over 30 volunteers at a food pantry that serves 300 families and 1400 people. Not stopping there, Dave and his wife, Joanne, are transport volunteers for GRRMF, often taking dogs into rescue from their former owner, a task that requires compassion and understanding. Dave and Joanne’s family includes Zoe, Charlie (a GRRMF rescue) and Snickers.
