Oliver Adrian’s Success Story

Oliver Adrian’s Success Story

On adoption day, when Oliver’s forever mom locked eyes with his, he gave her the warmest welcome with lots of tail wiggles, then threw his ball at her, ready to play in his foster mom’s backyard. But his tail truly went CRAZY when he wagged “hello” to his big sister, Shelli!

Life, to Oliver, is spelled B-A-L-L. There are countless balls throughout the house of every size and color, old and new, and because he cannot choose just one, he plays with all of them! He could be in a dead sleep and if he hears the word “ball,” he springs right up like a Jack in the box. As much as he loves walks, Oliver never leaves the house without a ball.

He especially enjoys walking to the lake, waiting patiently until he’s unleashed, and then, once his leash comes off, he races into the water to play. Definitely living up to his retriever name, he loves retrieving his ball from the water and throwing it back to his mom, over and over, without tiring. But when the leash comes out and he knows it’s time to go home, he purposely lies down in the shallow water and pouts.

As amusing as he is active, Oliver always keeps his appreciative mom in stitches, and seeing his true personality shine through each day is, to her, a real blessing. If she comes through the door after a rough day to be greeted by his wide, goofy grin, she instantly starts to smile, and all of her negative thoughts disappear. Comical even when he sleeps (he’s the true definition of a bed hog), Oliver snores and stretches out as far as he can, leaving his mom fighting for her side of the bed!

Then, should his sister Shelli get pushy and “demand” her breakfast, walking up to the bed and
barking, Oliver responds by sitting on his mom’s face and pawing at Shelli’s head to tell her to
calm down!

Always the life of the party, happy and social, Oliver is ever so gracious to every guest, crawling onto his newest friend’s lap and proudly showing off his ball. Highly intelligent, eager to learn and to please, he relishes praise – and treats — and rewards people with a beaming smile and bountiful tail wags. And because he loves being around people, including the vet, on his last visit, he not only brought his ball, he had the entire vet staff in his exam room throwing the ball with him!

In January, Oliver, Shelli, their mom and her boyfriend travelled to Blue Ridge, Georgia, where he enjoyed running through the mountains, not to mention getting into the cold water of Blue Ridge Lake. But, what made this trip most memorable was when his mom’s boyfriend proposed to her. As Oliver would like to say, he gained a new daddy!
