His elated parents’ happiest memory of adoption day was giving Maui (fka Ace Fenton) a huge hug knowing that he was well and truly theirs … fur-ever!
While sleeping tops Maui’s list of loves when it comes to activities, he also loves playing with all of his various toys and playing fetch at the dog park. As to his favorite toy: his stuffed Lamb Chop.
Much to his parents’ endless delight, the fact that Maui is, in their words, “a really goofy guy” never fails to make them laugh. He not only becomes supremely silly when they play with him outside, he also has a habit of snoring a great deal, which they find hilarious.
Happily for Maui, he accompanied his parents to Fort Lauderdale right after his adoption was finalized. Although he loved staying in a hotel for the first time, he turned his paws down at having to take the elevator! He then vacationed with his parents in North Carolina, where he visited his favorite dog friends and had the time of his life. But best of all: his parents took him to a Mexican restaurant, where he managed to “sneak” several tortilla chips and, not surprisingly, loved them.
Three of Maui’s most endearing traits that make him so special are that he’s so completely content, he just wants to be with his family. He’s exceptionally intuitive, he can tell when someone has had a bad day and needs a little extra comfort. Ever the good sport, he’s always ready for an adventure — even if it’s only a 30-second car ride when his mom is pulling into the driveway!
While Maui’s already so wonderfully well behaved, with little left to teach him, he’s been working diligently on his listening skills every day and does very well whenever a treat is involved.
In the words of his adoring mom, “Thank you so much for connecting us with Maui. He is the perfect addition to our family!”
