Simba came to GRRMF when his former owner became ill and could no longer take care of him. Being the laid-back gentleman that he is, Simba adjusted immediately to his new foster family’s home and routine. He spent the first day exploring the house and slept quietly on the bedroom floor that night.
This affectionate boy loves to get pets and belly rubs! He even enjoys being brushed. He likes to stay near you most of the time but will occasionally wander into a hallway or other room to lie down on his own. Simba’s foster mom reports he’s very well-behaved and seems to genuinely appreciate things you do for him.
He’s a smart guy who learns quickly. He already knows several commands – sit, stay, down, and come – and he’s currently learning to give you his paw and shake. He’s also housebroken and is perfectly content to sleep on the living room floor while his foster family runs errands. He isn’t bothered by thunder, which is a definite bonus during summers in Florida!
Simba arrived in the rescue more than twenty pounds overweight. He’s currently on a diet and has already lost some of those extra pounds. He enjoys going for walks outdoors. At home, he sometimes does a cute walk backwards when he finds himself in a tight space and can’t turn around. He also loves to go for rides in the car! Because he’s overweight, he sometimes needs a bit of a boost to get into the car. Luckily, his foster family has a small ramp to give him an easy way to get into the back seat, and he learned how to use the ramp right away.
When Simba first meets someone new, he’ll put his mouth gently around their wrist. But don’t worry – he doesn’t put strong pressure or bite down. Putting his mouth on your wrist is just his quirky way of checking out new people. He’s extremely friendly and greets everyone with a friendly wag of his tail and no hesitation at all.
Simba is an incredibly sweet dog who will bring tons of joy to his new “furever” family. If you make room in your heart and home for this adorable boy, you won’t be disappointed!
