Volunteer:

My name is Charlie Haker. I’ve been a member of GRRMF’s community outreach and foster team since 2002, when I had the chance to learn about the group at my local PetSmart.

My Journey:

In 2002, I went to my local PetSmart to adopt a golden and visited the education event table. Now I’m on the other side of the table, teaching people about the work we do and why it’s important. My favorite times are when I visit former fosters, and they realize who I am.

Because of the work we do, these dogs get to become important members of their new families. The feeling of watching a foster move on and completing their new forever families is like nothing else.

Advice for Potential Volunteers:

Try different things, find out what works for you. Support the education events even if it’s only occasionally. You can make a difference in a dog’s life.
