On February 28th, Misty arrived at her first foster home with a happy smile and a wagging tail. This delightful golden adjusted quickly to her new surroundings and was the ” hostess with the mostest” when her foster family had guests for dinner the second night of her stay.
Misty is also quite a detective and enjoys making a careful analysis of all the DNA along her daily walks. Her foster mom states “ . . she loves to sniff – – everything! A 10 minute walk easily expands to 20-30 minutes so that she can explore. She is teaching me to “smell the roses,” rather than rushing.”
Misty is an easy going gal, she doesn’t appear to have taken Obedience 101, but she is so well mannered that it hasn’t been a problem at her foster home. Her fur is as soft as a kittens ear which “makes her a great dog to cuddle” reports her foster mom.
Misty came to GRRMF because her family was moving out of the country and could no longer care for her. During her initial medical examination there were some concerns about her health and it was decided that some additional testing would be necessary.
Sadly, Misty has been diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. She will continue to be monitored by the specialists at Tampa Bay Veterinarian Services every three months, Misty has now become one of our sanctuary dogs and has been placed with a loving permanent foster family who will care for her every need with kindness and love.
GRRMF sanctuary dogs live the rest of their days with a permanent GRRMF foster family who will make every day count, showering their foster dog with love and providing any necessary special care based on their dog’s needs. We have a sanctuary program to save lives – wonderful dogs, like Misty, would not have any options without our intervention.
We know that many of our supporters may not be able to donate at this time; our lives are uncertain with the Covid-19 virus and the economy. It is with the support of our donors who help fund our sanctuary program that we are honored and able to help these precious dogs live wonderful lives. We thank all of you for what you have donated in the past and we trust you will graciously donate in the future when life returns to normal for all of us.
In the meantime, Misty and GRRMF wish everyone to stay safe and healthy.
