Hi! I am Dexter Andy, a beautiful blonde boy looking for a new home! I’m very strong, and a good size for my one and a half years, so my foster mom says I seem like ‘Rocky’. I’m not a picky eater and don’t cruise counters, but an open trash can piques my interest. I’m not too interested in treats, and I love to be praised up close, right in my face. I am the best kisser and love to be with you any- and everywhere: in the kitchen behind you, by the dinner table, and even in the bathroom. If you go out the door, I will steadfastly wait for you to come back through that same door.
I’m kind of a momma’s boy and don’t like to be separated from my mom for too long, even though dad is home. I’m used to a solid eight hours of sleep every night, and am up and ready to go for my morning walk at 6:30 a.m. During walks we practice my leash skills. I am a quick learner and am getting better after just five days with my foster mom’s patience.
I have lots of energy and need a fenced yard for my play sessions throughout the day. I run fast in the yard and will chase a ball when given the opportunity. I like to pick up palm fronds and try to run with them, but mom doesn’t like me doing that, so I’m learning to resist the temptation. I’m not interested in the pool, but I like to watch my foster mom swim in it from inside the house. Someone’s gotta be ready to jump in and rescue her!
By the way, my hearing is excellent and new sounds quickly get my attention. My mom reassures me all is okay and I quiet down. I have a voice and use it to get your attention or alert you something. I really don’t like to get into a vehicle, but if you help me, once inside I am a good rider.
Another important thing to know: I’m not a fan of other dogs and must be the only woofer in my new home. I am trying to make friends with the cat in the house. She is not running from me anymore and I only get a few hisses now and then. She’ll learn to love me and we will be best buddies. I am ready for my ‘furever’ home – maybe it’s with you?!
