Your Help Is Appreciated
It takes a whole “village of people” to assist in the smooth transition of a homeless golden retriever into a new forever home. If you have been thinking about sharing your time and talent for golden retrievers who fill your heart with joy, consider volunteering with GRRMF. We have many different and diverse opportunities for you to consider. You’re welcome to do as much as you want as often as you want or just choose something that fits your time and talent and allows you to get your feet wet with the experience. Many of our positions can be done from any location through electronic means.
We are a diverse gathering of volunteers from many different walks of life. We love enfolding new faces with fresh ideas into our family of dedicated golden lovers.
What are the benefits of volunteering?
- Knowing that you are helping to save precious goldens.
- Getting to know other golden retriever lovers.
- Doing fun things with your dog!
- Making a difference in your community – being one of the “best”!
What are some areas I may be of assistance?
Private foster homes are critical to our organization in the care and nurturing of our rescued goldens. We need fosters who are willing to open their hearts and doors to take on the challenges of our homeless goldens. Your home and loving support of these wonderful dogs is the main ingredient in their mental and physical road to recovery while waiting for that new special family to call their own. Please see more on our Foster Experience page and fill out a foster application.
We are always seeking volunteers to help at GRRMF events. Currently we are in need of a seasoned Events Director to oversee events for GRRMF including developing a high profile major fundraising event. The Events Director would also coordinate the GRRMF Rescue Reunion.
Our volunteers LOVE our annual rescue reunion which takes place every year on a Saturday in February. Be a part of the planning and fun to help organize and/or support the awesome activities on the day of the event! Planning calls start early in October of the prior year but some of our dedicated volunteers think of this event year-round gathering personal and corporate sponsor items for grab-bags, the silent auction or our fantastic raffle table baskets.
Safe and gentle arrival of our goldens into the GRRMF program is critical to the surrendering family and our organization. If you love to drive and meet our new dogs at the threshold, this is the job for you. Our volunteer hours are mainly weekdays during the day and Saturday mornings/early afternoons. We need help throughout our area with some additional critical needs in the Tampa to Orlando I-4 corridor, Ocala to Gainesville areas as well as Daytona and Melbourne.
Home Visit Team
The last vital step in our foster and adoption application process is visiting the applicant’s home to ensure safety and soundness for a GRRMF’s dog placement. All volunteers are welcome. The more we have the quicker the new family is approved and ready for a golden. Some critical areas of coverage needed are Brooksville, Spring Hill, Clermont, Longwood, Port St Lucie, Ft. Pierce, Debary, Tampa and Lakeland.
We always have room for writers. We love sharing written stories of our organization through educational features regarding dog ownership and health and especially sharing stories and adventures regarding the dogs in our care. We are always looking for fresh eyes and new thoughts and experiences to help GRRMF spread the “tales” in our newsletter as well as on our website and Facebook venues.
A special part of our media team is photographers. We never have enough great photos to share and always have room for more photographers. Great pictures can make all the difference in helping our goldens get adopted. All photographers in all locations are welcome with additional assistance needed in Polk, Brevard, Manatee, Hernando and Pasco counties.
We need computer oriented, reliable volunteers who are willing to work with inputting information to our databases and systems on a regular basis. We also need volunteers who can manipulate photographs for web/media presentation, help update our website, and support the technology end of social media.
It takes a lot of effort to run GRRMF from an administrative perspective. Do you have good accounting or business management skills? We are always looking for excellent business oriented volunteers to help out.
We need people to help do phone interviews of adoption applicants, help process applications, and assist with matching dogs with perfect homes.
We need volunteers who can work with shelters and surrendering owners. We must coordinate medical care for all our dogs and we need high caliber volunteers to help with this effort.
