	Obesity: A Serious Medical Problem Sadly, this problem is all too common. We rescue many dogs each year that weigh over 100 pounds. If you cannot feel his ribs, or see a nice "waistline", your dog probably weighs too much. Extra weight sets dogs up for a whole list of medical problems. 	Want a Good Dog? Train Him! GRRMF often suggests that an owner take their new golden to obedience classes. We usually require training for young, energetic dogs. Obedience training helps an owner teach the dog to become a good canine citizen--one that people will enjoy being around. Another benefit of training is the close relationship that develops between the owner and the dog. It's also a great way to socialize the dog with other animals and people. Plus, it's fun!
