Training Material and Trainers

All of us want a well behaved dog, don’t we?

A well-mannered dog doesn’t happen by accident. Training your dog is one of the best investments you will ever make.

Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida endorses only positive, force free training methods.

A wonderful resource for training information is Dr. Patricia McConnell. She has a terrific website and offers books and videos on training dogs. We highly recommend any of her books or videos. Her website also has a reading room that is full of great information.

Each GRRMF adopter gets a copy of “Love Has No Age Limit“, a guide to integrating a new dog into your home.LoveHasNoAgeLimit_cover_ff

Having a well adjusted, happy dog is worth the effort it takes to educate yourself on the latest dog training methods. Many of the things we have learned years ago have been replaced by science based behavioral research. Dr. McConnell’s book, The Other End of the Leash, is a classic book that will educate you on how to translate dog to human and human to dog. You’ll learn why the advice to “get dominance” over your dog isn’t based on the latest canine “pack” behavior at all. Understanding your dog is the first step to having a wonderful experience as a dog owner.
