Sunny

A day without Sunny is like a day without sunshine.

It is easy to feel that way about a person or an animal that is consistently happy and laid back. They always have a way of bringing a bright spark into your day and into your life. That is the way of this Sunny’s sunny disposition.

At nine years old Sunny still loves to play with her two foster siblings and she gets a real kick out of chasing a tennis ball and an even bigger kick out of not bringing it back every time. There is nothing like a dog with a sense of humor.

Sunny is a very sweet tempered and gentle 70 pounds of silky golden red. She is so easy to have at home too. She does not chew or counter surf or raid the garbage. She doesn’t even bark that we have heard much of. Even when it’s meal time and she is asked to speak for her food she only lets out “silent bark” according to her foster mom. If you can’t read lips you may miss it!

If you can't adopt a dog right now, please think about donating for Sunny's care!

Sunny came to us with a couple of heat spots on her back but they are clearing up quite nicely. She is also taking thyroid medication twice a day. Thyroxin (thyroid medicine) is a critical therapy she will need the rest of her life, but the good news is that this drug is very inexpensive and comes in a chewable tablet that most dogs just consider a bonus treat.

Even though she is considered a senior dog Sunny still loves to go for walks and remains relatively active. She has two favorite squeaky toys she loves to play with and she absolutely loves to cuddle on the couch or the bed. A puppy love is nice but a mature love is what we all seek in the long run. Read about the wonders of senior companionship, and then consider Sunny. You will be glad you did.
