Say hello to Ralphie!! This sweet 5-year-old came in with his sister from someone who could no longer keep them. They were outside dogs, and unfortunately both have heartworms, as well as some other parasites.

We’ve started Ralph on his heartworm treatment, and he’s doing fine. He also wasn’t neutered, so we performed the neuter surgery. Unfortunately, his sutures became infected, so he has had a bit of a long recovery from that.

He has settled in very nicely with his foster family. He is both a gem and a gentleman. He is housebroken, doesn’t chew on things he’s not supposed to and gets along fine with the resident golden. He walks well on leash, although we have to take it easy right now during his heartworm treatment.

He is not a barker and is very easygoing. He loves to sniff around the fenced yard and roll in the grass as he basks up the sun’s rays. He’ll come when called, and also knows to sit on command. Stay is a bit more challenging for him, as it is for most goldens. If you step away, he feels compelled to come closer – typical golden, he’s all about his peeps!

Ralph is quite the gentleman who loves people

Ralph has a beautiful red coat and loves everything about life. He is a true golden, with that sunny-side-up personality, for sure!

Ralph won’t be ready for adoption until the end of April, when he has completed his heartworm treatment and has received a clean bill of health from our veterinarian. Once the heartworms are gone, he’ll just need monthly heartworm preventive and he’ll not be plagued by those nasty worms again.
