Jordan, 6 years, is a Gentle Giant – he is a big boy and sweet as they come. He was turned in to GRRMF when his owner ran into financial difficulties and could no longer afford his medication.
Jordan is diabetic and requires twice-daily insulin injections – just like humans with the same condition. Other than the shots, he is a typical happy, sweet and playful golden retriever!

He walked into his foster home like he’d always been there and has become best buds with his foster bro, Caesar. The two play all the time and have a great time together. And by playing, we mean PLAYING … wrestling, bitey-face, tug and chasing each other around the yard! Jordan obviously doesn’t feel like he has any medical impairment!

| Jordan is completely trained and has great house manners, so he does not need a crate. He has been well taken care of and has no other health or behavioral issues. He is very obedient, comes when he’s called and responds immediately to corrections if he does something wrong (which is rare). He knows all the basic commands, and will even “shake.” He has great leash manners and rides well in the car. With his height, he could easily be a counter-surfing pro, but he doesn’t bother a thing left out on countertops or tables. He also takes treats very gently and does not chew on anything he’s not supposed to. He loves people of all ages and is very gentle with the little ones.
He’s quite literally a perfect dog!

So, what does his treatment entail? He gets a daily shot of insulin. The needle is small, and it’s very easy to administer. Since Jordan is used to his shots, he takes it all in stride. He has been getting insulin shots since he was a youngster. He knows he gets the shot right after he eats, so he’ll follow his foster mom to where she fills the syringe and stands like a brave soldier waiting for his medicine.
Most of all, Jordan loves getting attention from his humans. He’ll give you “the paw” to ask you for more petting and is always up for a bellyrub. He also loves kisses – both giving and receiving them!

We’re looking for a very special family who isn’t put off by Jordan’s medical needs. They are very manageable, and we feel that Jordan deserves a chance to find his very own forever home. His adoption fee is reduced since he is a special-needs dog. Our main concern is making sure he is happy and loved for the rest of his life.
