Duffy

Duffy is happy to be feeling better after all the wonderful care in his foster home. His only supplements now are flax seed and yogurt; nothing that requires a vet's care.Duffy is very, very playful now.  He often instigates play with the other dogs. Duffy will do fine in a home with another large dog, or even more than one, but he sure loves to chase cats--all in good fun, though. Duffy loves his dog beds He is obedient, loving, gentle, and just a nice dog to be around. He is ready for a home that will offer him exercise, good nutrition, quiet times at night, scratches on the top of his head, responses to his gentle head butts, and love for forever.  He is a great dog that is really, really deserving of his forever home!

We are happy to introduce Duffy, a ten year old well mannered gentleman who came to GRRMF when his previous family could no longer take care of him. That was certainly no fault of Duffy’s and that makes the situation even more heartbreaking to know that a good old soul like Duffy has to be torn away from his family.

Fortunately, golden retrievers are some of the most forgiving and resilient dogs we know of and Duffy is certainly one that fits that mold. He is full of love and loyalty and a golden’s willingness to please.

Duffy does need regular exercise and a home with a pool would be ideal because he is developing some arthritis and summer time swims would be the best low impact therapy he could have. Poor Duffy also has some skin allergies but fortunately those are controlled with low cost over-the-counter medications.

Even though Duffy gets along great with everyone at this point we think he would like a quieter environment perhaps one that without small children or other rambunctious dogs.

Adopting a senior golden requires a golden heart and size matters. But the act is an investment and you can still expect to get more out of a bond with a senior dog than you put into it. That’s just the way dogs work.

Duffy would love to share your home. Do you have room in your home and heart for Duffy? He doesn't ask for much, but will give you all the love you can handle.
