Corey

Corey came to us after wandering the streets and being picked up by the dog catcher. He was released to us by a county shelter. At some point in his life, he had a broken his leg and it had healed at a bent angle on its own, because it had never been properly set. After playing for a while, poor Corey would start to limp.

It would have caused him shoulder and ankle problems as well as severe arthritis as he grows older. GRRMF wanted to repair his leg, but he had kennel cough for three weeks so he could not take anesthesia. When he finally got over that, he went to Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists to have his leg repaired.

Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Matt Oakes, did a superb job of putting his leg back to normal. He has a splint on the leg now and it is healing nicely. He should get his splint off April 22nd . At that point, he will need to go to rehabilitation at Hip Dog for several weeks. He will be very happy when he can play his favorite games again: fetch and tug o' war. Of course, as always, surgery is not cheap.
