This 6-year-old sweetie was an owner turn-in. The reason? Well, seems the children were grown and the parents didn’t want to deal with him any longer.

Chester

When he came to us, he suffered from a complete lack of grooming. He needed some TLC on that golden fur, which we’re working on, and he is getting the hang of what a brush is for – at first he thought it was a game, but after watching the other dogs in his foster home, he is beginning to understand that if he stands still, the brush feels really good!

Chester is very obedient and eager to please – which is good, because he had some manners to learn in the area of counter-surfing. He is housetrained, though, and responds well to corrections, so no more problems with counter-surfing. He knows to go potty outside and doesn’t chew anything he’s not supposed to.

One of Chester’s favorite activities is his daily walk. He will go fetch his leash for you to let you know when it’s time to go, and really enjoys meeting all the people in the neighborhood.

His second favorite activity is getting attention from his humans. He is a very sweet and lovable boy who just wants to be loved. He had some separation anxiety issues when he first arrived, and tried to bust out of his crate, so we do not recommend crating him. He seems to gain comfort from being with those of his own kind, and if given a chew toy and allowed to be with his canine siblings, he is not destructive when his humans are away. We even tested him with some old shoes, and he did not touch them.

We feel that Chester would be best in a home with other dogs, and definitely no crates for him. Do you have space in your life for a devoted canine companion? Chester may just be your man!
